Monitoring protection mechanisms
International and regional conventional and non-conventional human rights mechanisms monitor States’ international commitments. OMCT activity to that respect aims at facilitating access of victims and local NGOs to the mechanisms and provides them with legal and practical support. OMCT submits alternative information (statements, reports, follow-up notes and oral briefings) and individual complaints to United Nations protection mechanisms and to the American, African and European ones. In the framework of the follow-up process, OMCT pays a particular attention to the effective implementation by the States of the recommendations adopted by the United Nations Treaty Bodies (UNTB).
